It's not been confirmed yet but it almost certainly will be. Kamala Harris will become the first ever United States Vice President of (partly) Indian heritage. It is a huge moment in representation. Here are a few facts about her you may not know.

1. Her parents came from India and Jamaica
Her mother Shyamala Gopalan moved to the U.S. to study when she was just 19 years-old. She came from Tamil Nadu in south India and married Donald Harris, later giving birth to two daughters: Kamala and Maya.

2. She comes from a politically active family
Her grandparents were activists too. Her grandfather P.V. Gopalan was part of the Indian independence movement.

3. Her mother raised her as a black woman
She wrote in her own book: "[My mother] knew that her adopted homeland would see Maya and me as black girls, and she was determined to make sure we would grow into confident, proud black women."
