'Your right to choose' - the UK has a new campaign against forced marriages

The UK's Forced Marriages Unit (FMU) released a new message with a new video this week.

The new message? That even if someone isn't being physically threatened, they could still be forced into a marriage.

It can be hard to recognise when someone is being forced into marriage, especially when this involves psychological and emotional pressure rather than physical abuse.

The video is above.

"For example, some victims of forced marriage are pressured by being made to feel responsible for bringing shame to their family," said a statement from the FMU.

A forced marriage is illegal in the UK. The FMU aims tohelp those suffering from one.
