Smethwick: Coronavirus cases spike as council urges people to stay home

Cases of coronavirus in Smethwick have spiked up - causing an urgent alert from public health chiefs.

A total of 35 new cases have now been reported in a week - 10x times the number at the end of June, according to Birmingham Live.

Sandwell Council’s public health director Dr Lisa McNally urged people in the town to be extra vigilant and to stay at home if they had any symptoms, no matter how minor, as officials battle to contain the virus.
