Hold on to your hats because Himesh Patel is about to hit the bigtime.

The British Asian actor is playing the lead in a new big-budget film by Danny Boyle, out on June 28th.

Yesterday imagines a world in which, because of some freak accident, The Beatles don't exist. And Jack Malik, played by Patel, seems to be the only person to remember their songs and lyrics.

Written by Richard Curtis (Bridget Jones's Diary, Love Actually), the film also stars Ed Sheeran, Lily James and even American star Kate McKinnon.

Sanjeev Bhaskar and Meera Syal play Jack's parents.

Himesh Patel is best known for playing Tamwar Masson on the BBC soap Eastenders.

He was also the lead in a short award-winning film called Two Dosas.

Yesterday will hit theaters on June 28.

The trailer has already generated plenty of interest among desis.
