Like many first generation immigrants, Smrithi Ram grew up with the unique challenge of reconciling her own identity with the different cultures surrounding her.

Her experience of racism in the US even drove her to use skin lightening creams and hate her own culture and heritage.

But in this thought-provoking talk, she explains how she slowly ended up exploring her own identity and how it gave her strength and understanding.

She also shares why it is important for our communities to embrace diversity and cultural variety.

Smrithi Ram is studying a Masters in Mental Health @ QM London.
