Yesterday afternoon four men tried to rob a jewelry store in Mississauga, Ontario, in the middle of the day. But they did not expect the workers to fight back with swords. The attempted robbery failed miserably.

The attack happened at Ashok Jewellers on Airport Road around 12:15 p.m, according to Peel Regional Police.

But as the robbers tried to make their way into the store, three of the store workers charged at them with swords they had stored in the back. The robbers got scared and ran off.

Journalist Kamil Karamali got sent CCTV footage from the store

The store owners told the journalist that they were kirpans, a blade carried by initiated Sikhs, and had more of them in the back of the store.

Const. Danny Marttini told Global News that one of the robbers had a gun, and it was unwise to have confronted them. "It could have easily turned into a completely different situation. We could have been looking at numerous people being injured," she said.

This isn't the first time either.

In July, another store not far from Ashok Jewellers also fought off robbers with swords.
