Amandeep Madra and Akeela Ahmed among those honoured by Queen for community service

More than 1,000 people have been recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours 2018 announced last night.

The honours list is meant to recognise the achievements of people across the UK for service to the country.

The honours includes :
- activist Akeela Ahmed (now MBE) for her work with Muslim women as founder of the She Speaks, We Hear charity.

- academic Amandeep Madra (OBE) for services to Punjabi and Sikh heritage and culture.

- Professor Jaswinder Singh Bamrah (CBE) for services to Mental Health, Diversity and the NHS.

- Mr Manoj Kumar Badale (OBE) Chair, British Asian Trust, for services to the Economy and charity.

- Mrs Sonia Kumari Brooks (OBE) Deputy Governor, HM Young Offenders Institution Feltham, for services to HM Prison Service and the Criminal Justice System.

- Mr Pargan Singh Cheema (OBE) Chief Executive, The Scottish Grocers’ Federation. For services to Business, Community Cohesion and charity.

- Mr Nitesh GOR DL (OBE) Founder and Chief Executive, Avanti Schools Trust. For services to Education.

- Mrs Shahana Khan (OBE) For voluntary service to Healthcare and Social Housing in the West Midlands

- Mr Pritpal Singh Landa (OBE) Managing Director, DSL Group (Nottingham) Ltd. For services to Business, charity and the community in Nottingham.

- His Honour Riaz Hassan Naqvi (OBE) Resident Judge, Sovereign Base Area Cyprus. For services to Defence.

- Mr Dhruv Prashant Patel (OBE) For voluntary service to the British Hindu community and Social Cohesion.

- Mr Kumar Sureshchandra Raval (OBE) Founder of Faith in Leadership. For services to Leadership Education and Inter-faith Cohesion.

- Dr Syed Tanzeem Haider Raza OBE) Consultant Physician, The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. For services to Health and Medical Education.

- Dr Ashok Roy (OBE) Clinical Lead, Learning Disabilities, Health Education England. For services to People with Learning Disabilities.\

- Dr Amarjit Kaur Samra (OBE) Director of Research, Medical Directorate. For services to Defence Medical Research.

- Mr Arjun Chainrai Waney (OBE) Entrepreneur. For services to the Restaurant Industry.

- Ms Roma Agrawal (OBE) Associate Director, AECOM. For services to Engineering.

- Mr Ajaz Khowaj Quoram Ahmed (MBE) Founder, AKQA. For services to Media.

- Mr Sarfraz Ali (MBE) President, Pakistan Association Liverpool. For services to Community Cohesion and Integration in Liverpool.
